What to expect

A little preparation. A lot more confidence.

Your child does not need to be perfectly brave. Our job is to make the day understandable, supportive, and as comfortable as we can.

How to talk about the dentist

Keep it simple, positive, and true.

Tell your child that the dentist will count their teeth and help keep their smile healthy. Avoid scary words like “shot,” “drill,” “pull,” or “hurt.” We have friendly ways to explain each step without making promises we cannot keep.

Try this:

“We’re going to meet people who take care of kids’ teeth. I’ll be there too.”

Your visit, step by step

From the front door to the high five.

  1. 01

    Before you arrive

Bring current insurance information and note any medicines, allergies, or accommodations we should know about. Our team will guide you through any needed paperwork when you schedule.

  2. 02

    A friendly hello

Arrive about 15 minutes early for a new-patient visit. We will introduce the space and give your child time to take in the sights and sounds.

  3. 03

    Tell-show-do

The team explains what is happening in age-appropriate, reassuring language. The visit adapts to your child's comfort and clinical needs.

  4. 04

    A clear plan

We finish by sharing what we observed, answering your questions, and explaining any recommended prevention, treatment, or follow-up.

Parents in the room

You are welcome at the initial exam.

At later visits, some children feel more confident walking back with the team. We can talk through the approach that fits your child; parents may accompany them if they choose.

Siblings

Plan supervision for children not being treated.

Children who are not scheduled for care should stay in the reception area with a supervising adult so the parent and clinical team can focus on the patient.
